TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Crews stopped the progress of the 18 fires burning off SR 79 near Oracle Junction on Friday, March 28.

On Saturday, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said the lines held over night and that more mapping would be done during the day.

The fires were worked as a single incident and named the Saddlebrooke Fire.

The Golder Ranch Fire District and ADFFM said additional crews were called in quickly and “all resources (made) great progress.”

The ADFFM said the fires have burned around 100 acres but more information would be released later Saturday.

While it is under investigation, officials said the fires were likely caused by someone dragging chains or some kind of metal.

Please always take a few extra minutes to ensure trailer chains are secure before getting on the road,” the ADFFM said in a release.

The fires started Friday afternoon along a 20-mile stretch of SR 79, from around mile posts 96 to 114.
