Pet of the Week: Meet Fredrick!

PHOENIX and MESA (Maricopa County Animal Care & Control) - Maricopa County Animal Care & Control is a public animal shelter committed to finding good outcomes for lost, surrendered, and stray dogs and cats.

This week’s is a friendly 2-year-old lap dog named Frederick.

Mission Microchip

MCACC is offering offer free microchipping services through the end of the year to help keep pets safe and in their homes. Registration is required ahead of time, and MCACC hopes all Maricopa County dog owners will take advantage of this free service.

The unfortunate reality is that 1 in 3 pets will go missing at some point, sometimes at no fault of the owner. Even the most well-behaved dogs can get lost or run off unexpectedly. Microchipping dogs not only greatly increases the chances of reuniting these lost dogs with their owners, but it may also help reduce the crowding problem shelters are facing all over the country.

“The goal of the mission is to have all Maricopa County dogs microchipped, so they can easily be returned to their owners should they get lost or be separated,” said MCACC spokeswoman (and former Arizona’s Family reporter) Kim Powell.
