PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s kitten season — the time when many cats give birth during the warm months. Births can happen anywhere, even in the most unusual places.

So when seven newborn kittens were found stuck in a ceiling, the Arizona Humane Society came to the rescue!

The Arizona Humane Society’s emergency animal medical technicians went on a strange yet daring mission to rescue the poor cats from inside the ceiling. Staff says the kittens were less than a month old.

While the staff wasn’t sure how the kittens made their way up there, technicians cut out a part of the ceiling to get to the animals. The kittens were then taken back to the shelter and bottle-fed in the ICU unit.

Staff says the kitties are currently in a foster home but are still looking for their fur-ever families! The Arizona Humane Society is encouraging the public to adopt kittens as they care for a hundred more cats in the shelter than this time last year.

For more information about adoption, head to the shelter’s website.
