(CNN) – Officials say dog owners should be cautious about what they may be feeding their “best friends.”

The FDA said 16-oz. bags of Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips have been recalled due to a potential salmonella threat.

The FDA said dogs who eat salmonella-tainted food can suffer several health issues, including nausea, fever and abdominal cramping.

Humans who touch contaminated products can also be affected with the same symptoms.

The recalled chicken chips were sold online and in nearly 20 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

The treats come in a purple and black bag marked on the back side with lot number 20051324L2 and an expiration date of 11/13/25.

This is the only lot number identified as potentially contaminated.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this product.

Anyone who bought the treats can contact Carolina Prime Pet, Inc. at treats@carolinaprimepet.com or 828-394-6460 Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST for information on how to return the product or get a refund.
