Roach killer, fruit flies found in kitchens of Phoenix area restaurants
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for May 7, 2025:
Wingstop - 4049 E Williams Field Rd, Gilbert
3 violations:
- Employee not washing hands properly
- Raw chicken strips not cooked to proper temperature
- Chemical spray bottle hanging over washed potatoes
Hop Social Tavern - 3405 W Chandler Blvd, Chandler
3 violations:
- Employee handling ready-to-eat foods without washing hands
- Raw chicken stored above raw beef
- Roach killer stored in kitchen
Salt Tacos Y Tequila - 2206 E Williams Field Road, Gilbert
3 violations:
- Bar dishwasher not cleaning properly
- Refried beans out of temperature
- Spanish rice not hot enough
Kneaders Bakery and Café - 5155 E Baseline Rd, Gilbert
3 violations:
- Can opener with heavy accumulation of food debris
- Tomato soup not kept hot enough
- Several fruit flies near food prep area
Silverlake Ramen - 920 E University Drive, Tempe
4 violations:
- Employee rinsed soiled dishes then clean dishes without washing hands
- Employee places tempura on sushi with bare hands
- No soap at hand sink
- Cooked bamboo and mushrooms not held hot enough
